The profractional laser focuses on skin issues caused by sun or environmental damage, the aging process, or problem skin. The profractional laser works at varying depths to create thousands of “micro-channels” in the skin, which generates a wound healing response from the healthy surrounding skin. This approach allows deep penetration of the laser energy, which inspires collagen remodeling that ultimately results in richer, firmer tissue. Overtime patients can also begin to see improvements in pigment irregularities, acne scarring, sun-damaged skin, and fine wrinkles.

A Profractional Can Help:

  • Increase skin density and enhance overall tone
  • Improve the appearance of scars caused by acne or trauma
  • Stimulate your body’s own natural collagen production

How is a Profractional Performed?

A profractional treatment is a non-surgical procedure that is generally well-tolerated and is continuously numbed with cool air throughout the entire process. Once the treatment is completed, a topical barrier is applied over the skin to keep foreign particles out and moisture in.

What is the Downtime for a Profractional?

Immediately following the treatment, the targeted area will be warm and red with minor pinpoint bleeding. Redness may be warm to the touch for the first couple hours and may look and feel similar to a sun burn first couple days. Patients should avoid taking any anti-inflammatory pain medications such as ibuprofen or advil, as the inflammatory response is what you want to achieve with the profractional for optimal results. With a profractional, skin becomes more sensitive to UV rays, so it is important to remember to avoid direct sun exposure for 2 weeks after treatment.

Swelling decreases quickly for most patients, however you may still have some skin slough off, pinkness or slight sensitivity in some areas for a couple day after treatment.

When Will I See Results?

As your body heals and reacts to the treatment, it will continue to produce new collagen. Over the next few months, you will see continued improvement in both tone and texture.
