Laser skin rejuvenation

Laser skin resurfacing has been around since the 80s and 90s, improving and erasing facial blemishes, wrinkles, scarring and sun damage. In the last ten years, technological developments have made the procedure safer and more effective than ever.

If you have sun spots or age spots, acne scarring, splotchy skin or discoloration, laser resurfacing may be able to rejuvenate how you look – without surgery. Any area of your body can be treated. The most common areas are those that have had the most exposure to the damaging effects of sunlight including the face, neck, back of the hands, upper chest, and shoulders.

What does it treat?

Laser resurfacing can help with wrinkles, uneven tone and irregularities, improving your complexion and skin texture. It’s not a facelift, but it can be performed in conjunction with other facial procedures, including neck and eyelid lifts. Consider laser resurfacing if you have:

  • Wrinkles, fine lines
  • Mild acne scars
  • Skin irregularities, blemishes
  • Birthmarks, brown spots
  • Sun damage, sun spots
  • Blotchy skin color

How does it work?

Laser resurfacing – also called lasabrasion or laser peel – creates pulses of light which penetrate the surface of your skin, transform into heat and evaporate blemishes one layer at a time.

Dr. Cole determines the intensity of the light and its penetration depth with great precision, making this procedure safe even for delicate areas. Treatment sessions are quick with an average treatment time of 12-15 minutes for a full face and the results last for years! Depending on the amount of damage, more than one treatment may be required.

As the laser removes the outer layers of damaged skin, it also stimulates the skin underneath, the dermis, to produce more collagen – helping your skin heal softer, smoother and firmer than it was before.

What about recovery time?

Your skin may feel itchy or irritated immediately following your procedure. Also, it’s common to see several days of redness and peeling. During this time, it’s essential to protect your skin with moisturizer and sunscreen. With proper care, improvements in your skin’s appearance may continue over the next several months.

“I had sun damaged skin, irregular skin tone, and many moles. I had five sessions of Broad Band Light laser treatments, and from the first treatment have experienced remarkable firming, and my skin looked better after each procedure.” — Cole Aesthetic Center patient
