Nail Fungus Laser Treatment

At least one in four people has nail fungus called onychomycosis, and unfortunately, it will NOT go away on its own.

“I’ve suffered from toenail fungus for almost 20 years. Before the laser nail treatment, my nails looked dark gray — almost bordering on black. The treatment itself was really simple and easy — I was able to do whatever I wanted afterward with no side effects. Now, my toenails are much lighter — I’m not afraid to show them in public.”

What is onychomycosis?

Onychomycosis is a type of fungus that lives in the cracks and pores of your nails and nail bed. The most common symptom is the nail becoming thickened and discolored.

As the infection progresses, the nail can become brittle, with pieces breaking off or coming away from the toe or finger completely.

If left untreated, your nail fungus can continue to damage the nail and spread to additional nails, and it becomes increasingly difficult to treat. Onychomycosis can even infect others in your home.

My entire experience at Cole Aesthetic was wonderful, start to finish. The entire staff treated me with friendly respect and as a valued patient from the minute I walked in the door for the first time…

How the laser treatment works

Laser treatment can rid your nails of the fungus completely. Our technician at Cole Aesthetic Center will use the laser to penetrate your affected nails, killing the destructive infection while preserving healthy tissue. Laser treatment is effective and comes without the concern of possible liver damage associated with other oral treatments. During your initial assessment, Dr. Cole will determine if your nails are a candidate for laser treatment. You will also be instructed on what to do to prevent the spread and reinfection of the fungus.

You’ll feel a mild, warming sensation from the laser — most people feel no pain. The treatment takes less than 30 minutes, and there is usually no discomfort afterward. You can resume daily activities immediately after the procedure. We treat all ten toes to ensure we target any possible areas affected.

During the procedure:

You will notice results within the first two to four months, depending on how quickly your nails grow. New, clear growth will appear at the bottom of your nail as the diseased area grows out.
