Brow Lift (Forehead Lift)
What is a Brow Lift (Forehead Lift)?
A brow lift, or forehead lift is a surgical procedure to correct deep furrows on the forehead, frown lines over the eyes, drooping eyebrows and hood-like skin over the eyes. All of these conditions can make you look or feel older than you are. Whether age or heredity causes these conditions, a brow lift (or forehead lift) can give you a more youthful, animated and alert appearance. An eyelid lift can also be performed with a brow lift to achieve a more dramatic result.
How is a Brow Lift (Forehead Lift) Performed?
A brow lift or forehead lift is usually performed under local anesthesia, supplemented by a mild sedative to keep you relaxed and comfortable. There are a number of variations of the brow lift, and Dr. Cole utilizes a post-trichial technique. This method calls for several small incisions just inside the hairline, the excess skin is then removed, resulting in elevation of the eyebrows and a smoother look to the forehead. Brow lifts may be performed on their own or along with other procedures such as eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) a face lift, or neck lift surgery.
What is the Downtime for a Brow Lift (Forehead Lift)?
Most patients are feeling better within a couple of days, and back to full activity within two weeks. They experience bruising and swelling for up to 2 weeks, with sutures for that same amount of time. Strenuous exertion, which increases your blood pressure, should be avoided for about one month, along with prolonged exposure to heat or sun.
