We also have the tips you need to help you decide which of these treatments will help you meet your aesthetic goals best. The Lowdown on Tumescent Liposuction Tumescent liposuction offers the ability to trim away focal areas of fat from nearly anywhere on the body. Common treatment areas include: Upper arms Upper and lower back Abdomen and waistline Buttocks Inner and outer thighs Knees and calves The procedure can even be used on smaller areas of the face and neck, including the problematic area under the chin. Dr. Cole can adjust the procedure to accommodate each area with the same precision and positive results. Procedure Details Tumescent liposuction is a minimally-invasive surgical procedure that can be performed on an outpatient basis. Most patients undergo the procedure using local anesthesia which reduces risks and recovery time over general anesthesia. Tumescent liposuction is also preferred over traditional liposuction techniques because it results in less blood loss, which leads to less bruising and discomfort after the procedure. Tumescent liposuction involves the injection of a special fluid prior to the procedure, which makes the fat cells easier to remove and minimizes bleeding during the procedure. Once the fluid is injected, a narrow tube called a cannula is inserted directly into the area of fat using a very small incision. The cannula gently loosens the fat cells before suctioning them out of the body. Tumescent liposuction involves a minimal amount of recovery time, with most patients returning to their regular activities within a matter of days. The results of the procedure will be evident once the body heals and will be permanent as long as a healthy weight is maintained after the procedure. Introducing SculpSure SculpSure is an innovative solution in body contouring that does not involve surgery. Instead, laser energy is used to heat the fat cells underneath the skin’s surface without disrupting the outer dermal layers. The heat destroys the fat cells so they can be eliminated by the body over time. SculpSure is primarily used to reduce fat around the midsection. The device offers four different applicators, which means multiple treatment areas can be addressed at one time. In clinical studies, SculpSure offered a 24-percent reduction in fat and over 90-percent patient satisfaction rate. Procedure Details The SculpSure procedure takes just 25 minutes to complete and patients experience little or no discomfort during treatment. While the laser heats the cells below the skin’s surface, an integrated cooling device maintains a comfortable skin temperature throughout the procedure. After the procedure, patients typically return to regular activities right away. Results of SculpSure can be seen within a few weeks after the procedure, as fat cells are destroyed and eliminated by the body. Once those results are evident, they will be permanent as long as a healthy weight is maintained. Making the Choice Making the choice between tumescent liposuction and SculpSure can be easier said than done. As a general rule, patients with more fat to remove will generally see better results with liposuction, while those looking for more subtle results can opt for SculpSure. Dr. Cole will work with you to understand your aesthetic goals, evaluate your current amount of fat and recommend the best procedure for your needs.
